Franklin Parrasch Gallery is pleased to present Skins, bringing together eight artists whose works engage, directly and indirectly, with surface as a site of transformation, memory, and permeability. While each artist’s practice varies widely in medium and subject matter -- from painting to drawing and ceramics -- the exhibition proposes "skin" as a framework through which their works can be read in relation to one another.
Skin is both physical and symbolic. It is a threshold between interior and exterior, and a record of experience and encounters. Throughout this exhibition, surfaces become active spaces rather than passive coverings. Texture, pattern, layering, and material presence invite viewers to consider what is revealed, concealed, preserved, or transformed at the boundary between the self and the world.
Skins invites viewers to move between the material and the metaphorical, considering how surfaces hold traces of life, memory, and transformation.
Skins is on view Monday through Friday 11a-6p from July 9 - August 21, 2026 at 19 East 66th Street, Floor Three, New York, NY. An opening reception will be hosted on Thursday, July 9, 6-8p.
